For the Mazda CX-30 (2.0/191) with a manual transmission, what is the optimal (engine friendly) RPM for shifting up and down?

not sure if there's anything like that. Usually the car suggests which gear to use in your display. A general rule of thumb is 2k-3k rpm, but more as a guiding rail for fuel consumption. I rarely rev my g122 higher than 4k rpm and I stick to shifting gears at 2-3k in most situations. However, some situations may require to shift at higher rpms, such as overtaking or driving up the hill.

  • I agree with the previous writer. Depending on the driving situation or your own driving habits, it shifts best in the speed range between 3000 and 4000 rpm. My CX with automatic also shows me how. It shifts up or down between 2200 and 3500 rpm, except when I step on the gas pedal more, then of course it shifts the individual gears higher.
